Who knew that owning your own home was so much work! When Preston and I first got married, we decided that we wanted to wait a few years before buying a house. We thought it’d be great to enjoy apartment life with no yard and home maintenance (and I’m sure we would’ve been right!) but with the interest rates so low in 2009, we thought just for fun we’d go ahead and “browse” the market. That browsing lasted about 2 weeks and the next thing we knew, we were making an offer on a home! We moved so quickly on that one, I’m not even sure we took much time to really think about what we were doing!
We've now been in our house about 15 months and in that time span have done so many home projects together! We painted the master bathroom, kitchen, living room (twice, 2 different colors!), guest bathroom and hallway, we ripped up the living room carpet and put down hardwood, we framed the guest bathroom mirror, we framed all the windows in the house and our latest project is to work on the yard! It’s a total mess, we ripped up 2 maple trees from the front yard and are in the process of tilling the flower beds and burying the water drain thing. Our sidewalk and driveway is covered in red clay mud.
Next projects up are: painting the master bedroom, refinishing Preston’s old dresser, making a headboard for our bed and then in the kitchen I want to put backsplash in and get a new black sink. (I hope Preston isn't reading this... heh)
*** Update on the yard. We are done (at least til spring). We put in a crape myrtle and Preston pressure washed the cement so things aren't looking so bad anymore.
