Coxsackie has infected another victim. My little baby! :( I think she picked it up at the dagum doctor, makes me so mad too. On Tuesday she had her 9 month check up, everything looked great, doc checked her throat and ears, all healthy! On Wednesday Summer was very sleepy and was only awake about 5 hours of the whole day. On Thursday she got up at 7 like normal and we were in her room playing when all the sudden she just laid down on the carpet and tried to go to sleep. VERY unlike her, she fights sleep like crazy and would never just lay on the carpet to take a nap so I scooped her up and she felt warm, I took her temp and it was going back and forth between 101-101.9. I called the doctor and he guessed that maybe she had a urine infection so I took her in and as he checked her throat he saw an ulcer and she had spots on her feet. Diagnosis: coxsackievirus, aka hand, foot and mouth disease. Summer had been in the church nursery that Sunday but that was 4 days earlier. She had been in the doctors office 2 days earlier so you decide. Anyways, it started out mildly, with a few spots on her feet. By Friday it had multipled on her feet and on Saturday, not only did more sores pop up, but it spread to her legs, her bottom, her arms and her face :((
Day 2 (it grew more on Day 3 but no photo)
Now (5 days later), her sores are starting to heal and her fever has been gone for 2 days so she is recovering but it's terrible to see your baby sick. I know this is the first of many illness we will have to deal with but doesn't make this one any better.
:(
